Air guitar goodbye

Artist: Rob Reid
Source: More family storytimes: 24 creative programs for all ages

Rob Reid comes up with ideas to share music and story with children that are both fun to lead and easy to execute. Here's one that worked well for me. I changed the verbs from his version:

Let's play air guitar (mime playing guitar)
Let's give an air high five (mime giving high fives, not touching hands)
Let's blow an air kiss (blow a silent kiss with a wave of the hand)
Let's wave an air goodbye (wave hands and say 'goodbye')

Any tune will do. Or no tune at all - just chant. Repeating this goodbye chant a few times adds to children's enjoyment, especially if it's new to them.
